The Zorn Museum – Johansson vs. Zorn 2012

Ritator designed the exhibition catalogue for the show ‘Johansson vs. Zorn’ at The Zorn Museum, Mora, Sweden. Johansson’s exhibition attempted to challenge the legacy of Sweden’s most famous artist, Anders Zorn (1860–1920), through a personal narrative. One of the strategies he used was to cover famous Zorn portraits with his (as well as the town of Falun’s) red-orange signature colour.

This colour became a corresponding theme in exhibition catalogue design. For example, a Zorn self-portrait was printed on the cover of the publication. Once the books were ready to be shipped, Ritator and Johansson covered the portraits with a stroke of red paint, making each book a collectable object.
